UNIVERSITY PLACEMENT / INTERNSHIP STUDENTS

Kylie Tan

AFDIF has always been more than a film festival, it is a place where stories, cultures, and communities come together. Through photography and social media content creation, I had the opportunity to capture the heart of AFDIF: a celebration of human connection through diverse storytelling.

Working alongside Yogi was truly rewarding. It challenged me creatively, connected me with passionate people, and reminded me that the most impactful stories are often the ones that bring us closer together. I am proud to have contributed to a festival that champions voices from all walks of life and creates space for them to be seen. Storytelling truly extends far beyond the cinema. It lives in the communities we build, the perspectives we share, and the voices we choose to amplify. This invaluable experience will continue to shape the way I create, connect, and tell stories in the years ahead.

Alex Considine

I did my internship at the Australian Film Diversity and Inclusion Foundation for my 2026 Adelaide University internship. I am of mixed Filipino heritage, and am a second-generation Australian. For my internship I chose specifically AFDIF because it aligns with my future ambitions of bringing multi-cultural and diverse media to the South Australian film industry; creating a new opening for future creatives within the area and that share the same passion.
As a student of multi-cultural background, my time throughout AFDIF brought me opportunities to connect with the Adelaide Community in interpersonal ways allowing me to better understand the importance of inclusive media. The networking and mentorships I gained through Yogi was invaluable to succeeding past expectations for my graded internship course, and I hope to use the skills learnt during my time within future opportunities. 
I personally found the program AFDIF provides highly valuable to those who want practical experience, and industry insights which the university and other programs can’t teach. Highly recommend learning with Yogi and the Australian Film Diversity and Inclusion Foundation for academic placements.

one of our main goal is to support students in gaining an understanding of Diversity and Inclusion in the film and arts sector in Australia. Past students had the opportunity to develop their skills under Uni Placement and volunteering with us.
